Here’s what I’ve got for You -

Were you aware that color …

• Enhances memory and is a vital factor to increase the retention of information?
• Stimulates, excites, increases brain activity as well help to relax?
• Motivates kids to learn?
• Inspires creativity?
• Keeps learners focused for a longer period of time?
• Assists ALL learners, no matter what their ages are ( child to adult)
• Keeps all learners engaged and therefore learning occurs.

Here’s what I want you to do …

If you are a parent, teacher, trainer, presenter or an adult learner, it’s crucial for us to know how to use it to our benefit. Start using colored pens, pencils and highlighters to enhance your learning and teaching. If you want more stimulation, use red, orange and yellow. To induce relaxation, use green, blue and violet.

Also consider what colors you use at home to decorate the bedrooms or areas where learning takes place. Research show that a colorful bedroom is certainly beneficial for babies.

However, Here’s a warning: Once you watch this 3 minute movie, it’ll be hard to forget!

I’ve watched it numerous times but you know what…it still works. Whenever I need a little “nudge” to remind me about the difference between good and great, I’ll watch it again.

The concept is this…at 211° water is hot, but at 212° it boils and turns to steam and steam can power a locomotive. It’s that one extra degree…just one…that makes all the difference. And so many times in business and life it’s that one extra degree of effort that separates the good from the great!

It’s amazing what you find stuck up on your workplace walls. The article that follows, “Wine vs water” , certainly got my attention and weird SOH….so, I thought I’d share it. My apologies to the original author…I certainly acknowledge his/her cleverness.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year, we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of escherichia coli (e.coli – bacteria found in fesses)

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop!!!

However, we do NOT run the risk when drinking wine or beer (or tequila, rum, whisky, or other liquor), because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and / or fermenting.

Remember:…Water = Poop       Wine = Health

Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of poop.

How many of you know a teacher who has made a difference in your life? How about a coach or trainer, a facilitator or a presenter who has made a difference to you as a client?

Let me explain…

Until the age of 12, I grew up in Thangool, Queensland, Australia. It was an extremely small town of 200 people.  And during those years there was one teacher who had a great influence on me.

His name was George Whittington…naturally we all called him “Dick”….not to his face, though. Apart from being the principal and being responsible for the running of the school, he was also my Grade 6 and 7 teacher. One memory I have was his smoking a pipe. What an aroma!

More importantly, he always had time for each one of his students. I felt that each of us was made to feel important and recognised for the talents we had.

So if you’re a teacher / coach/ trainer/ mentor, or if, like me, your life was greatly influenced by a one of those people, you’re going to love this movie! If you’re a coach, then I suggest that you substitute the word “client” for “child”. The beautiful poem, The Heart of a Teacher, was written by Paula Fox.

“OK, Terry, what has a picture of your Aussie model, Lara Bingle, got to do with this post?” you are probably asking.

(Lara was used in the controversial 2006 Tourism Australian advertising and the catchphrase was, “Where the Bloody Hell Are You?”)

To be honest, firstly, I wanted to get your attention. Secondly, it struck me that people have been asking where I have been.

Well, that is a great question. It’s taken me 12 months to finally get back into doing something that I was enjoying. Without going into all the finer details, let me just say that there has been a great deal of personal growth – mentally, relationally, financially and spiritually. (This usually occurs after a divorce and all the challenges associated with it) …Oh yes, and plenty of inspiring walks on the beach.

So, what have I got for you?

In the posts that will be ‘comin at ya’, there will be heaps about how accelerated learning can make your learning / teaching/ training/ presenting more effective and efficient, engaging and meaningful, faster and easier and heaps of FUN!

There will be numerous practical tips posted + +++++ a great deal more…so, let’s get this ‘show’ started. (And…I promise you that, if that is not the case, then you can kick my butt!)
